CRUDE DEGUMMED SOYBEAN OIL SPECIFICATION
Origin: Any Country
Minimum Flash Point: 250°F (121°C)
MAIN QUALITY LIMITS (At a Glance)
| Parameter | Limit | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| Free Fatty Acid (FFA) | Maximum 1.00% | Lower is better. Higher FFA means more acidity. |
| Moisture & Volatile Matter | Maximum 0.20% | Very low water content required. |
| Impurities | Maximum 0.10% | Clean oil with almost no dirt or foreign matter. |
| Sediment | Maximum 0.10% | Very low solid particles allowed. |
| Lecithin (as Phosphorus) | Maximum 0.025% | Controls gum content. Lower is generally preferred. |
| Color (Lovibond 1 inch) | Max 50 Yellow + 5 Red | Should not be too dark. |
| Unsaponifiable Matter | Maximum 1.50% | Non-fatty substances kept low. |
PRICE ADJUSTMENT RULES (Discounts)
If the oil is slightly outside the ideal range, a discount is applied on the contract price. Here’s how it works:
1. Free Fatty Acid (FFA) Discounts
| FFA Level | Discount on Contract Price |
|---|---|
| Up to 1.00% | No discount (ideal) |
| 1.01% – 1.05% | 0.6% discount |
| 1.06% – 1.15% | 0.9% discount |
| 1.16% – 1.25% | 1.2% discount |
Example: If FFA is 1.10%, you get 0.9% less on the total contract value.
2. Lecithin (Phosphorus) Discounts
| Phosphorus Level | Discount on Contract Price |
|---|---|
| Up to 0.020% | No discount (ideal) |
| Up to 0.021% | 0.2% discount |
| 0.022% | 0.4% discount |
| 0.023% | 0.6% discount |
| 0.024% | 0.9% discount |
| 0.025% | 1.2% discount |
Example: If Phosphorus is 0.023%, you get 0.6% discount on the contract price.
Summary – Key Points
- Best quality = FFA ≤ 1.00% and Phosphorus ≤ 0.020%
- Small increases in FFA or Phosphorus are allowed, but you will receive a discount.
- All other parameters have strict maximum limits (no allowances beyond the max).
