Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a flammable hydrocarbon gas mixture primarily consisting of propane and butane. It is a versatile, high-energy-density fuel widely used for domestic and commercial heating, cooking, autogas (vehicular fuel), refrigeration, and as a key petrochemical feedstock. Its clean-burning properties make it an efficient and environmentally preferred energy source.
Approximately two-thirds of global LPG supply is produced as a by-product of natural gas processing, with the remainder derived from crude oil refining through fractional distillation.
LPG is traded both as pure components (propane or butane) and in customized mixtures tailored to specific end-user requirements. It is stored and transported under pressure (or in refrigerated form) in specialized steel vessels. Primary transportation modes include sea freight via pressurized or semi-refrigerated vessels, as well as road networks using ISO tanks and specialized tankers.
Ametheus actively trades LPG across the physical supply chain. We buy and sell LPG cargoes, manage end-to-end logistics via sea vessels, ISO tanks, and road tankers, and provide reliable brokerage services in the region. We maintain strong direct relationships with major global traders, tier-1 suppliers, and refineries.
In key South Asian markets such as India and Bangladesh, LPG reaches bulk consumers through specialized road tankers and ISO tanks, while retail and commercial users are served via cylinders of various sizes. We offer flexible cargo specifications to meet the diverse needs of petrochemical plants, blenders, autogas distributors, and bottled gas companies.
The Middle East, particularly the Arabian Gulf, remains the dominant supplier to South Asian LPG markets, with Dubai serving as a vital trading and financial hub. Traditional trade flows include shipments from the Arabian Gulf to Asia, as well as from the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions. LPG is also actively traded on derivatives markets through forward contracts and swaps.
Our Core LPG Trading Activities:
Buying and selling LPG (spot and term contracts)
Managing transportation and logistics for pressurized and semi-refrigerated cargoes via sea, ISO tanks, and road tankers
Providing regional brokerage and facilitation services.
We operate in full compliance with all applicable local, national, and international regulations governing the LPG industry. With extensive regional experience, we have developed deep expertise in regulatory and logistical requirements across South Asia.
Our long-term vision is to establish Ametheus as a leading regional player and build a vertically integrated energy group through strategic alliances, joint ventures, and targeted acquisitions of storage, midstream, and downstream assets in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other South Asian markets.

Notes from the table:

  • Propane + Butane together make up ~100% (35% ±5 + 65% ±5).
  • Very low C5, ethane, and butadiene content (tight controls).
  • Typical commercial LPG blend with higher butane content.
  • “Input” for vapour pressure likely means it is a measured/recorded value rather than a strict specification limit in this document.

Safety & Performance Balance

  • Propane (35%) → Provides good vapor pressure, especially useful in winter or cooler weather.
  • Butane (65%) → Cheaper and gives higher energy content.
  • This mix works well for South Asia’s tropical climate (not too cold) while maintaining safe cylinder pressure and efficient burning in household appliances.
  • Approved range is generally 30–35% Propane and 65–70% Butane at consumer level.
