Polyethylene and polypropylene are the two most traded polymers in the world. PP and HDPE are among India’s ten largest chemical and petrochemical imports, and LDPE, LLDPE, PET and polycarbonate also arrive in steady volumes. Converters buy these grades all year for film, woven sacks, pipe, bottles and moulded goods.
Ametheus supplies a short list of regularly traded grades to film and sack makers, pipe extruders, blow and injection moulders, preform makers and trade partners. We ship full containers on FOB and CFR/CIF terms from established producing regions. We work on a contract basis and do not sell samples or retail lots.

Technical Specifications
Typical producer datasheet values. These are not a guarantee. The final specification and mill COA are confirmed on each contract.
1. Polyethylene film grades (LLDPE / LDPE)
| Grade | Type | MFI (190 °C / 2.16 kg), g/10 min | Density, g/cm³ | Additives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LLDPE LL0209AA | Butene (C4) copolymer | 0.9 | 0.920 | Antioxidant; no slip / antiblock |
| LLDPE Slip, 1 / 2 MFI | C4 copolymer | 1.0 or 2.0 | ≈ 0.918 – 0.920 | Slip and antiblock |
| LLDPE Non-Slip, 1 / 2 MFI | C4 copolymer | 1.0 or 2.0 | ≈ 0.918 – 0.920 | No slip (grip when stacked) |
| LDPE 2420D | High-pressure LDPE | 0.25 | 0.923 | Non-additivated |
2. HDPE: pipe, blow and injection grades
HDPE MFI is measured at 190 °C. The result depends on the test load, so the load that each producer publishes is shown.
| Grade | Process | MFI @ 2.16 kg | MFI @ 5 kg | HLMI @ 21.6 kg | Density, g/cm³ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HDPE EX3 (PE100) | Pipe extrusion | very low (not quoted) | 0.40 – 0.50 (typ. 0.45) | 12 ± 3 | 0.944 – 0.946 |
| HDPE HB0035 | Blow moulding | 0.35 | — | — | 0.956 – 0.962 |
| HDPE HD52518 | Injection moulding | 18 | — | — | 0.952 |
3. Polypropylene homopolymer (PP)
| Grade | Process | MFR (230 °C / 2.16 kg), g/10 min | Density, g/cm³ | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PP H030SG | Raffia tape | 3.4 | 0.90 | Low water carry-over on the tape line |
| PP H110MA | Injection moulding | 11 | 0.90 | Antistatic; suits furniture compounds |
| PP H100EY | TQ film | 11 | 0.90 | Slip and antiblock |
4. PET and Polycarbonate
| Grade | Key Parameter | Typical Value | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| PET bottle grade 801 / 821 | Intrinsic viscosity (IV) | ≈ 0.80 – 0.84 dl/g, by grade | Dry before moulding; confirm IV, colour (b*) and acetaldehyde on the COA |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | MFR (300 °C / 1.2 kg) | 7 – 12 g/10 min | Lower MFI for extrusion and sheet, higher MFI for thin-wall moulding |
Buying note: The same grade name can run differently from one plant to another. Match the MFI, density, additive package (slip, antiblock, antistatic) and colour to your machine and end use. For PE100 pipe, also ask for the producer’s pipe-certification documents if your project specification requires them.
Key Applications
Flexible Packaging & Film
- Grocery, carrier and garment bags, and liners (LLDPE, LDPE, PP H100EY)
- Shrink film, FFS film and heavy-duty sacks for fertilizer, cement and polymer (LLDPE / LDPE blends)
- Textile overwrap, snack and general-purpose packaging film (PP TQ film)
Woven Sacks & Tapes
- Raffia tape for woven sacks, FIBC jumbo bags, tarpaulin and geotextiles (PP H030SG)
Pipe & Infrastructure
- Pressure water-supply and gas distribution pipe, and PE100 fittings (HDPE EX3)
Rigid Packaging & Moulded Goods
- Blow-moulded bottles and cans for lubricants, chemicals and household products (HDPE HB0035)
- Housewares, furniture, crates and thin-wall containers (HDPE HD52518, PP H110MA)
- Preforms for water, CSD and edible-oil bottles, and jars (PET bottle grade)
Engineering & Transparent Parts
- Electrical and electronic housings, lighting covers, sheet, and automotive lenses (PC)
Packaging & Logistics
- 25 kg PE / PP valve or FFS bags, palletised and stretch-hooded, or floor-loaded
- PET also in 1,000 – 1,250 kg jumbo bags (FIBC), where the producer offers them
- About 24.75 – 27.5 MT per 40′ HC container, depending on palletised or floor-loaded stuffing
- About 16 – 17.5 MT per 20′ container, subject to the line’s payload limits
- Break-bulk for large contract volumes, where the load and discharge ports allow it
An independent surveyor (SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas or similar) can inspect before or during stuffing. Checks cover grade and lot marking on the bags, bag condition, container cleanliness and dryness, and seal numbers. COA lot numbers are matched to the bag markings.
Storage & Handling
- Store bags indoors or under cover, off the floor, away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
- Use stock first-in, first-out. Polymers with slip and antiblock additives behave best within the producer’s recommended shelf life.
- PET and PC absorb moisture. Dry them to the producer’s recommended levels before processing to avoid loss of IV, haze and splay.
- Ground conveying and silo systems. Polymer dust and fines can build up static.
- Not classified as dangerous goods. The producer SDS is available on request.
Commercial Terms
