What We Do
Overview Ametheus is a technology-driven global enterprise specialising in commodity trading, chartering, healthcare, carbon credits, and trade finance consultancy. We operate across the fast-moving commodity sector, covering petroleum products, agri products (grains, pulses, and feed ingredients), metals, chemicals, and fertilisers.
How We Started: We began in 1999 by arranging Letters of Credit from Hong Kong for garment factories in India. Clients soon approached us for LC facilities in their trading businesses, giving us practical expertise in trade finance and a clear understanding of commodity buying and selling.
In 2000 we started trading jute, garments, and computer hardware—an activity we continued for a decade. In 2010 we expanded into seafood exports to Europe. From 2012 we began dealing in rice, corn, soybean, wheat, flour, edible oil, and other commodities. In 2014 Ametheus was established, and all subsequent business has been conducted under Ametheus Holdings Pvt Ltd.
Over the years we have handled a wide range of trades and developed several interconnected business verticals. The experience gained—including lessons from past mistakes—enables us to execute operations accurately and provide sound consultancy to our clients.
Trading: We act as a vital intermediary between customers and suppliers, simplifying complex transactions while ensuring demand and contractual obligations are met. We continuously identify and assess economic, social, and political risks across markets, because no two days are the same. That focus drives everything we do.
With specialised expertise and deep market knowledge, we help customers select from a wide range of raw materials and ingredient grades. Leveraging our global infrastructure and connections, we ensure products reach the right place, at the right time, and at the right price. For suppliers, our long-standing relationships and market insight help place their products with the most suitable buyers in the right destinations.
Technology: Drawing on our trading and logistics experience, we recognised that pricing intelligence, retail operations, and D2C quick commerce represent the future of business. We maintain an in-house technology team that develops and operates our apps and web applications, giving us full control over proprietary algorithms. Although we incurred significant losses during earlier technology implementations, those experiences have strengthened our capabilities and resilience.
Agrotech: As participants in the food supply chain, we understand the critical value of farming and farmers. We have developed expertise in conditioning topsoil and permanently removing CO₂ through Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW). ERW transforms farmlands into carbon sinks while remineralising the soil, delivering both environmental and agronomic benefits.
Consultancy: Beyond commodities trading, Ametheus delivers end-to-end solutions that include logistics and chartering. We provide tailored excellence in structured trade finance (including LC structuring), due diligence, risk mitigation, and strategy consulting aligned to each client’s requirements. Our approach is grounded in innovation and practical problem-solving, helping clients succeed in a rapidly evolving marketplace.
